ART IS THE SEX OF IMAGINATION
Jolene Anderson
Welcome to my site, stay awhile.
I do art because I must.
Ever since I can remember I've been drawing on chalk boards, the margin of my papers, napkins, sandy beaches and any blank surface
I have within reach.
Its a compulsion I can't and don't want to stop.
I didn't start "Painting" until after I had my two boys, and I will always think of myself as a student,
always striving to improve on technique and style.
I sometimes agonize over these imperfections,
but my very good friend Linda once told me,
"It is the indecisions that move you forward in life."
So I continue to move forward and paint and learn.
Another wonderful friend who's advice I will treasure always, once wrote me and said;
"So my dear, make art because you will, or you must, or it feels good...make it in watercolor, acrylics,
pastels or all of the above. Make it big, small, wild and tame. Let it be an expression, and impression, and an evocation, or a cartoon. You are the artist, whatever you do and why ever you do it, it is your art -
Pure and Simple."
Two very wise women I'm so grateful to have behind me and encourage me on my painting journey.
So, I find that day to day life breathes painting into my soul and it makes art a continued need in my life.
I hope my work pleases you in some small way because
the pleasure I get by doing it is too big to keep to myself.
Enjoy, Jolene Anderson
About Me:
I am a Los Gatos native. My parents are both very artistic, and my mother, grandmother and great grandmother were also artists. So I come by it naturally! I have drawn and doodled since I can remember but got serious after I had my boys and studied privately and with numerous published artists and authors
( I think the count is at 48 different artist). I also traveled to China to paint at the Beijing Institute of Art, and continue to study to keep fresh. I have been teaching art to children and adults for about 20 years and find I love it and learn so much by teaching others. I paint in watercolor, acrylic, pastel and pen and ink. In addition to my fine art I've designed sweatshirts, t-shirts, ties, business cards, letterheads and logos.
